Ubisoft Massive, the developer behind the popular Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, has released a gameplay trailer for their new open-world action game, Star Wars Outlaws. Set in the Star Wars universe, the game offers an original story that takes place between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In the game, players will control Kay Vess, a cunning scoundrel who is accompanied by her inseparable companion, Nix, an axolotl-like alien. Together, they embark on a journey to the Outer Rim, attempting to pull off the greatest heist in the galaxy. The game features a range of different biomes, inhabitants, and rewarding finds, as well as a variety of gameplay experiences, including dense cities, vast open-world environments, and intense dogfights in space.
Gameplay Details
The gameplay trailer opens with Nix stealing a rock-shaped artifact and handing it over to Kay Vess, who has a bounty placed on her head after a job went wrong. The game primarily consists of stealth missions, but also features all-out firefights, with Kay cycling between various blaster modules to stun enemies or deal heavy damage. In addition to her primary weapon, Kay can also pick up other weapons to take down enemies quickly. The trailer also shows off Kay’s traversal option, a hovering motorcycle equipped with a nitrous booster that allows her to evade enemies and reach her destination quickly. It also appears that players can slow down time while riding the motorcycle to target enemies and unleash a barrage of bullets.
The game offers immersive maps that are synonymous with Ubisoft branding, with Massive Entertainment leading the development. Star Wars Outlaws is set to release sometime in 2024, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
