How Otter AI Chat Works

The technology is based on the largest spoken large language model (LLM) that has been trained on verbal data. The technology is designed to understand and derive sentiment from the tone of a speaker. Otter AI has been able to train the model on over a billion meetings the company has transcribed, while keeping all user information confidential.
The Otter AI Chat feature enables collaborative chat, where all the people in a meeting can collaborate with each other and the AI chatbot in real-time. As the model was trained on the way humans actually speak, Otter AI Chat will be able to respond with human-style speech, making the information more useful and engaging.
While the approach is inspired by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Otter AI Chat is not using the OpenAI technology. Liang explained that OpenAI’s ChatGPT is based on a large language model (LLM) trained on public data that consists mostly of written content. Otter AI Chat is based on verbal data and is designed to offer a conversational interface between human beings and the AI.
The feature is currently available as a text interface that can be accessed inside a multi-speaker meeting. The plan for the future is to make the AI chat available via a voice interface as well.
