Microsoft has confirmed that its Xbox Games Showcase will be held on June 11, with timings and further details for the event now available. The showcase will be broadcast live on Xbox’s official YouTube and Twitch channels at 10:30pm IST in India/ 10am PT in the US. The event will feature “new surprises and first-looks” from both internal and third-party studios. The news comes after Xbox was one of several major publishers to opt out of the annual E3 exhibition, leading to its cancellation in March.

The company has been criticized for its lack of exclusive titles, and with Redfall receiving poor reviews, Microsoft will be looking to make an impact with this showcase. The cartoonish rhythm game Hi-Fi Rush was a surprise hit, but was shrouded in rumors that it failed to meet sales expectations. Aaron Greenberg, VP of Xbox Games Marketing, has since responded to these claims, stating that Hi-Fi Rush was a “break out hit” and that the team couldn’t be happier with developer Tango Gameworks’ work.

Starfield Direct Event

Immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft will be hosting a Starfield Direct event, featuring new gameplay, developer interviews, and behind-the-scenes content for the upcoming space-set RPG. The game marks Bethesda’s first newly-crafted universe in 25 years, throwing players into the year 2330 as a space miner who joins the Constellation, a group of explorers seeking rare artifacts across the galaxy. Starfield promises heavy character customization and a Persuasion system for conversations, similar to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game can be played in both first and third-person perspectives, and features space pirates, resource collection, and outpost building.

Microsoft also has a follow-up stream planned for June 13, featuring in-depth interviews focused on the titles that debut at the Xbox Games Showcase. The cancellation of E3 prompted the rise of online-only events, with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest proving that digital formats can successfully market games.
