Instagram, the popular social media platform, has recently introduced a new feature that allows users in the US to download Reels shared by public accounts to their camera roll.
How to Use the New Feature
According to Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, users can download Reels by tapping on the share icon and selecting the Download option. The downloaded Reels can then be shared via other platforms like WhatsApp and more. However, this feature is only available for Reels shared from public accounts, and private accounts cannot be downloaded. Additionally, users with public accounts have the option to turn off the ability to download their Reels in the app settings.
Details on the New Feature
The downloaded Reels will have an Instagram logo along with the account name, as indicated in a picture shared by Mosseri. The Reels can also be saved in the saved Reels tab within the app. It is currently unclear when this feature will be available in other regions.
Users can also download their own Reels from their drafts without a watermark. They can share their Reels in their Stories or via Instagram chat, or copy links to send them to others via other social media apps, including WhatsApp.
Other Updates on Instagram
In addition to this new feature, Instagram is reportedly working on a chatbot feature based on artificial intelligence. This feature will allow users to engage with AI agents that can respond to queries, provide advice, and compose messages.
