Meta’s Threads is a promising platform aiming to rival Twitter, targeting celebrities, companies, and governments. Company Similarweb conducted an analysis that demonstrated the declining daily active users on the Android version of Threads. The data revealed a drop from a peak of 49.3 million users to just 10.3 million. This significant decrease in engagement underscores the urgency for Threads to rectify its shortcomings and provide a robust user experience to retain and attract more users.

Despite the challenges faced by Threads, CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the platform’s potential. He acknowledged the need for stabilization before focusing on community growth, emphasizing that it will take time to establish Threads as a compelling social media platform. While the web version launch is an important step forward, Meta is yet to navigate the complexities of European Union data privacy legislation, which has resulted in Threads not being available in Europe.
