YouTube, the popular video streaming platform, has been testing a new feature to block ad blockers from using their service. This means that users who have been using ad blockers will no longer be able to play videos until they disable the settings. YouTube plans to disable the ability to block ads for non-premium users.

Ad-free content available with YouTube Premium

To enjoy ad-free content on the platform, YouTube recommends users to subscribe to YouTube Premium. The subscription is priced at Rs. 1,290 for a year in India. YouTube has shared a pop-up notification with its users which reads “Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube.” The notification also provides two options to the user: “Allow YouTube ads” and “Try YouTube Premium.”

Exclusive features for YouTube Premium users

YouTube Premium users not only get ad-free content but also access to several exclusive features that the platform rolled out last month. These features include the ability to add videos in a playlist queue and watch content together with friends via Meet live sharing/shareplay, 1080p HD video support, and smart downloads.

Enhanced video quality for iOS users

The platform has introduced an enhanced version of 1080p video quality for iOS users that will make videos more crisp and clear. With the Queue feature, users can create a temporary list of videos that they want to play next. YouTube Premium users can also watch YouTube videos together with their families or friends via Google Meet Live Sharing ability.

In conclusion, YouTube is making changes to its platform to restrict ad-blocker usage to non-premium users. This move aims to encourage users to subscribe to YouTube Premium for an ad-free experience and exclusive features.
