Instagram, the popular social media platform owned by Meta, has been experimenting with various strategies to encourage more users to purchase a verification badge. One of the latest features being tested is the ability for users to exclusively view posts from verified accounts. Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared the news on his broadcast channel and is currently seeking feedback from users to refine the feature further.

Mosseri’s post on his broadcast channel included an image showcasing three different options for users to customize their feed. These choices include viewing posts from accounts they follow, their favorite accounts, or exclusively from Meta Verified users. By introducing this feature, Instagram aims to provide businesses and creators with increased visibility, ultimately benefiting their growth and engagement on the platform.

The new feature is currently in the testing phase and is only accessible to a select group of users. The specifics of which users have been chosen for this testing phase have not been disclosed by Instagram. It remains unclear whether this feature will be limited to specific regions or rolled out globally. The company will analyze user feedback to make necessary adjustments and improvements to the feature.

The introduction of this feature could potentially serve as an incentive for more accounts to pursue verification. Meta has recently implemented a policy where anyone can purchase a verified badge for a nominal subscription fee. This new approach could be part of Instagram’s strategy to encourage more users to transition to verified accounts and take advantage of the benefits associated with verification.

Meta’s official announcement highlighted the pricing details for obtaining a verified badge. For mobile app users on iOS and Android, the monthly subscription fee is set at Rs. 699. On the web version of Instagram, the price is slightly lower at Rs. 599. To be eligible for Meta Verification in India, users must be at least 18 years old and provide an official government ID that matches the name and photo on their Instagram or Facebook account.

Instagram’s ongoing efforts to enhance its platform and provide users with more options for customization have led to the testing of a new feature that allows exclusive viewing of posts from verified accounts. By seeking user feedback, Instagram aims to optimize this feature to better serve businesses, creators, and other users. This could also potentially drive more accounts to pursue verification, aligning with Meta’s recent policy changes and subscription-based model for verification badges. As Instagram continues to evolve, it is essential for users and businesses to stay informed about these updates and understand how they can leverage them to maximize their presence on the platform.
